Most people choose to travel to exotic destinations on their honeymoons because they want to relax on the beach, catch some tan. My husband and I wanted to do something different. We have always been attracted to uncivilized regions, so we decided to go on a safari holiday after the wedding ceremony. Even though we didn't stay there for an entire month we were able to visit the most important touristic attractions of the South African continent.
You probably think going on a safari holiday is not as romantic as you would like it to be, but you're wrong. I've traveled to various destinations around the world, I've even been to Rome and Venice, two of the most romantic cities in the world - none of these vacations are as romantic as a safari holiday. The sunrise and the sunset are truly breathtaking; never in my life have I seen a sky that is redder than the South African one. In addition, there are many romantic things you can do if you choose to go on a safari holiday during your honeymoon.
Even though people rarely speak of the South African beaches I can tell you that they are very beautiful. The water is incredibly blue and clear, whereas most beaches are covered with white fine sand. I can assure you that you will have a much better time on your safari holiday than you would on a vacation in Greece or other sunny land.
One of the first things my husband and I did during our safari holiday was to go to the Kruger National Park. I am not really a fan of wild animals, but I said to myself that this could be a onetime opportunity. And it was. It was really fun to see zebras and giraffes around us, but the cutest thing I ever saw was a lioness playing with her lion puppies. There is no need to worry because the guides will take great care of you. As a matter of fact they have tranquillizers and they are ready to use them in case an animal acts a little bit strange. However, riding an elephant was the part of the visit that I deeply enjoyed. I really felt like I was the "queen of the world" sitting on the back of these wonderful animals. I know now that elephants are very sensitive and it saddens me to know that ill-intentioned people come to South Africa to hunt them.
I will always remember the great times we had on our safari holiday. We even took some of the most amazing pictures because the mountain landscapes are absolutely enchanting.
You can organize your safari holiday by searching the best South African vacation planners on the Internet. That is how we did and we were very pleased with the hotel room we booked. In fact, the room was purposefully decorated for honeymooners with baldachin and rattan furniture. You could see both the beach and the mountain from where our room was located. Moreover, the hotel staff was very polite and the food was excellent.

Almost everywhere you go on safari you’ll find interesting wildlife and inspiring landscapes (over forty percent of the country is protected in some form or other) ranging from forest-covered volcanic peaks to dusty savanna populated by elephants, antelopes, lions, leopards and cheetahs. Tanzania is one of the four most naturally diverse nations on earth: it contains Africa’s second-largest number of bird species (around 1500), the continent’s biggest mammal population and three-quarters of East Africa’s plant species (over ten thousand). Add to this the country’s rich ethnic diversity, some superb hiking and other activities like snorkelling and diving, and you have the makings of a holiday of a lifetime.
